Report: Nokia, Windows Phone land huge China deal

Nokia and Microsoft’s phone platform may get a big boost in China.

Bloomberg is reporting that Nokia’s about to announce a deal with China’s largest wireless carrier to sell the Windows Phone-based Lumia 920.

China Mobile is the world’s biggest phone company with 703 million subscribers, Bloomberg noted. It does not offer the Lumia’s nemesis – the iPhone – because the iPhone doesn’t work with China Mobile’s network.

The report said the deal could be announced as early as today and the 920 could go on sale in China this month. Not just the red ones, but also the black, yellow and white models.

UPDATE: Here’s Nokia’s release confirming the deal. Nokia’s also setting up programs to encourage app development in China.
