Nokia offers peek at Lumia 928, new Windows Phone flagship
Nokia’s trying to build buzz for its upcoming Lumia 928 by providing glimpses of its new top of the line Windows Phone model.
Images are appearing in a new Nokia magazine ad and teaser web site. The 928 appears with a black and silver or white case, perhaps indicating that Nokia’s moving its high end 900 series away from bold colors and toward a more conservative palette closer to that of the iPhone 5, HTC One, BlackBerry devices and Samsung’s new Galaxy S4.
Perhaps Nokia is pushing the Lumia’s colorful plastic cases downmarket, where it’s getting traction with the budget 520 and 620 series, or maybe it’s just too early to say.
Bloomberg reported in April that the new Lumia has a metal body, 4.5-inch screen and 8 megapixel camera and will be the first high-end Lumia carried by Verizon Wireless.
An aluminum case would be clever for the 928, which is also the name of front-engined Porsche that was noted in part for its aluminum V-8 and body panels when it debuted in the late 1970s.
Details are expected to be released May 14 when Nokia is holding a press event in London.
Expect a series of announcements from phone makers in the coming weeks, closer to the CTIA trade group’s conference in Las Vegas that begins May 21.
I think Nokia should offer the Lumia in this color:
