Skype CFO leaves for Portland startup

Bill Koefoed, a senior finance executive at Microsoft and former head of its investor relations group, is leaving for a Portland startup.

In a farewell note sent this afternoon, Koefoed said he’s leaving his post as chief financial officer of Microsoft’s Skype division to become CFO at Puppet Labs, a fast-growing startup building tools to automate and manage enterprise technology systems.

A former consultant with PricewaterhouseCoopers, Koefoed helped guide strategy at Hewlett-Packard before joining Microsoft in 2005.

Koefoed will continue living in Bellevue, where he can keep Puppet Labs abreast of its Seattle-area rivals such as Apptio and Opscode that are also building tools to help enterprise tech leaders manage modern infrastructure.
