Seattle superintendent lets principals make call on parade absences: Seattle principals were given the authority to decide whether their students will be given excused absences after attending today’s Seahawks victory parade. Bills in Mississippi would provide vouchers for special needs students (AP): Two proposals under consideration in the Mississippi state Legislature would offer parents of special needs students up to $6,000 to withdraw their child from the public school system. Supporters of the bills say many of the state’s districts don’t do enough for special needs students and their families.
