Round-up: Knapp re-elected, portable classrooms get eco-friendly makeover

Knapp re-elected president of Seattle teachers union: Jonathan Knapp was narrowly re-elected as president of the Seattle Education Association late last week. Challenger Jesse Hagopian, a Garfield High School history teacher, fell short by 45 votes. 

Proponents of green buildings redesign school portables (KUOW): Architects are discovering a strong market for “green” portable classrooms that reduce energy consumption and enable students to learn about how the buildings work. The Edmonds School District has plans to install several so-called SAGE classrooms, designed by a duo of parent architects from Portland.

Seattle Prep mock trial team wins national title: The school’s mock trial team beat students from 45 other states to win top honors at the National High School Mock Trial Competition in Madison, Wis., on Saturday.
