[do action="custom_iframe" url="//www.youtube.com/embed/8ihOeRg5Tv4" width="630" height="500" scrolling=""/]

The Education Lab team hosted a Google+ Hangout on July 17 about the innovative approach to math instruction happening at Lakeridge Elementary in the Renton School District and what other schools are doing to improve math education.

Reporter Linda Shaw facilitated the discussion. Panelists included Lynn Simpson, a third-grade teacher who has worked at Lakeridge for 16 years; Elham Kazemi, a University of Washington researcher who has worked directly with Lakeridge teachers for the past three years; and Hector Mendez, a National Board certified elementary school teacher and math specialist in the Yakima School District.
