Roundup: State asked to probe for-profit colleges; Ferguson highlights school race issues

Group asks Inslee to investigate for-profit colleges: An advocacy group has asked Washington state to launch a formal investigation into Corinthian Colleges, a for-profit company that operates six Washington campuses under the name Everest Colleges. The state’s Workforce Training and Education Coordinating Board, the agency tasked with regulating for-profit colleges, says it has not received any valid complaints about Everest.

Ferguson shooting highlights education-equity issues (ProPublica): Michael Brown’s school district ranked last in overall academic performance among all districts in Missouri. Five miles away, the wealthy Clayton Public Schools has a 96-percent graduation rate.
