Seattleites are hooked on Facebook — Can we kick the habit?
A new study by the Pew Research Center’s Internet & American Life Project reveals that most of us who use Facebook take extended breaks from the site.
Although two-thirds of Americans have a Facebook account, 61% say they will stay off the site for three or more weeks at a time. According to the Pew study, the top reason people ditch Facebook is that they’re just too busy.
Well, we’re busy here in Seattle, too, but that doesn’t seem to keep us away from Facebook. Survey data show that Seattle ranks 2nd in the nation for the percentage of people who say they have logged onto the popular social media site in the past 30 days. Tacoma is right behind us in 3rd place. Here are the top-5 metros:
|RANK||METRO AREA||% Access Facebook Recently|
|1||Southern New Hampshire||58.2%|
|5||Kansas City, MO||55.1%|

How about you? Are you one of Seattle’s Facebook junkies? What’s the longest you’ve gone without logging in? Take the poll or leave a comment.
