You can’t stop Tony Heard…

…You can only hope to contain him.

Actually, scratch that. You can’t stop Tony Heard. Period.

Edmond-Woodway’s (3-0) junior running back is running wild through the team’s first three games. The 5-foot-11, 225-pounder is the leading rusher in the area with 533 yards on the ground. He’s averaging 177.7 yards per game, 9.0 — as in seven, eight, nine — yards per carry and his nine TDs are good for third best in the area.

Though Warriors fans might be concerned over Heard’s latest effort. He carried 16 times for just 136 yards and only scored twice in a 63-27 win over Shorecrest. He broke a 53-yard run, but still, why not use the other half of the field, Tony?

The fourth-ranked Warriors play Lynnwood (2-1) at 8 p.m. Friday at Edmonds Stadium. Look for Heard’s numbers in Saturday’s paper.
