Good football names

Aren’t names fun? There are some wonderful ones out there — ones that make you beg to put a player’s name on his jersey.

We put together a short list of some of the best ones in the area. As always, if you have others, share your knowledge in the comments.

There’s Oak Harbor’s Rodrick Rumble who has rumbled for eight TD receptions this season. There’s Renton’s Justin Gunn whose cannon of an arm has passed for seven touchdowns to only three interceptions. Then there’s Cleveland’s La’Quaveous Benning-Dillon, who, um, yeah, he’s pretty good.

Here are some others:

–Bothell WR/LB Chris Dan Jumbo, who, at 5 feet11 and 180 pounds, isn’t exactly jumbo. (Shoutout to blog-daddy Tom Wyrwich for that).

–Skyline WR/DB Chad Johnson, who wears No. 85 like Cincinnati’s own Ocho Cinco.

–Bonney Lake RB/DB Citron Jackson gets juiced up to play. (Thanks to Sandy Ringer for that one!)

–Bethel LB/TE Happy Iona, whose three sacks in four games are making opponents anything but happy. (Sandy again)

–Bethel DB Radio Battle…sometimes this blog just writes itself.

Morning stars

1. Jessica Gayvoronskiy, Mariner, volleyball. Had 13 kills and 29 digs in 3-2 win over Meadowdale.

2. Mikaela Winter, Ballard, soccer. Had four goals and two assists in 6-6 tie with Lake Washington.

3. Chelsi Pennington, Kentwood, soccer. Had five goals — four of which came in an 11-minute span — in 12-0 win over Kent-Meridian.
