Final week playoff watch (part three)

We’re getting close to kickoff here at Husky Stadium, so I’ll make this quick. I have new updated brackets, and when I get game times, I’ll add them to the brackets.

Class 4A

Class 3A

Class 4A

KingCo 4A

Playoff spots: five.

In: No. 2 Bothell (8-0), No. 5 Eastlake (7-1), Woodinville (6-2), Inglemoor (5-3), Ballard (5-3).

Key games this week: Redmond 14, Inglemoor 13; Woodinville 48, Garfield 0; Eastlake 28, Franklin 13.

The skinny: It’s settled. Bothell’s the first seed and gets a tough game in Gig Harbor in the preliminary round. Eastlake is the second seed and hosts Bethel, another tough first-round game. Woodinville is the third seed and plays at Heritage. Inglemoor, by beating Ballard during the season, gets the fourth seed and plays at Rogers. And Ballard, your prize for making the playoffs for the first time in four years: No. 3 Edmonds-Woodway.

SPSL 4A North

Playoff spots: three.

In: No. 10 Federal Way (7-0), Kentwood (5-2), Kentridge (5-2).

Key games this week: Kentridge 28, Kent-Meridian 0; Kentwood 35, Kentlake 19.

The skinny: Kentridge and Kentwood did what they had to do: win. Now they’re in. Kentridge will head to Mariner, and Kentwood will host Snohomish. Federal Way finishes with a perfect conference season and hosts Cascade next weekend.

SPSL 4A South

Playoff spots: four

In: Rogers (6-1), Puyallup (5-2), Bethel (5-2), Graham-Kapowsin (5-2), Bethel (5-2).

Key games this week: Graham-Kapowsin 42, Emerald Ridge 14; Rogers 35, Puyallup 17.

The skinny: Rogers, with its win, takes the division and hosts Inglemoor next weekend. Puyallup will head to Central Kitsap, Bethel goes to the plateau to face Eastlake, and Graham-Kapowsin heads to Vancouver to play Evergreen,

WesCo 4A North

Playoff spots: three.

In: No. 4 Oak Harbor (8-0), Snohomish (7-1), Cascade (5-3).

Key games this week: Oak Harbor 21, Cascade 7; Arlington 21, Marysville-Pilchuck 20; Everett 31, Lake Stevens 14.

The skinny: Cascade received all the help it needed. It avoided a three-way playoff when Marysville-Pilchuck and Lake Stevens both lost to 3A teams. Oak Harbor hosts the Narrows fifth seed, Snohomish heads to Kentwood in one of the weekend’s great games, and Cascade plays at Federal Way.

WesCo 4A South

Playoff spots: three.

In: No. 3 Edmonds-Woodway (8-0), Mariner (7-1), Kamiak (6-2).

Key games this week: Mariner 28, Kamiak 17.

The skinny: Edmonds-Woodway hosts Ballard next weekend, Mariner hosts Kentridge and Kamiak heads to the loser of the Narrows championship game, either Olympia or South Kitsap.

Class 3A

KingCo 3A

Playoff spots: four.

In: No. 3 Skyline (8-0), No. 7 Bellevue (7-1), Issaquah (5-3, Newport (5-3).

Key games this week: Issaquah 35, Newport 0.

The skinny: Issaquah gets the third seed over Newport, but it comes with this prize: top-ranked Lakes in the preliminary round. Skyline will face the winner of the SPSL 3A/Seamount pigtail, Bellevue will host Shelton, and Newport heads to Columbia Basin.

Metro League

Playoff spots: four.

In: No. 4 O’Dea (5-0), Nathan Hale (5-0).

In the mix: No. 10 Eastside Catholic (4-1), West Seattle (4-1), Rainier Beach (3-2), Bishop Blanchet (3-2).

Key games: O’Dea 45, Nathan Hale 14; Eastside Catholic vs. Rainier Beach (Saturday), West Seattle vs. Bishop Blanchet (Saturday).

The skinny: O’Dea clinched the top spot and hosts the winner of a three-way tie-breaker in the Western Cascade. Hale hosts Kennedy next weekend. The winners of Saturday’s games are in. The losers are out.

WesCo 3A

Playoff spots: two.

In: Meadowdale (5-3), Arlington (4-4).

Key games: Meadowdale 28, Shorewood 7, Arlington 21, Marysville-Pilchuck 7.

The skinny: Those are the only relevant scores, with both Meadowdale and Arlington doing what they needed to do: win. Huge victory for Arlington, which would have needed to win a three-way tie-breaker had it lost. Meadowdale hosts Auburn Riverside next week. Arlington heads to Auburn.

Seamount

Playoff spots: three, plus pigtail with SPSL 3A.

In: No. 9 Evergreen (6-1) Kennedy (6-1), No. 8 Renton (6-1), Lindbergh (4-3).

Key games this week: Kennedy 35, Renton 29. Lindbergh 39, Highline 23.

The skinny: Lindbergh gets a date with Bonney Lake on Tuesday night. The prize for the winner? Second-ranked Skyline. Evergreen hosts the Metro No. 4, Renton hosts Mount Vernon, and Kennedy heads to Nathan Hale in what should be another one of the best first-round games.

SPSL 3A

Playoff spots: three plus pigtail with Seamount.

In: No. 6 Franklin Pierce (7-0), Auburn (6-1), Auburn Riverside (4-3), Bonney Lake (4-3).

Key games this week: Bonney Lake 41, Sumner 6; Auburn 37, Auburn Riverside 6.

The skinny: Bonney Lake clinches with its victory and plays Lindbergh on Tuesday night in the pigtail game. Franklin Pierce hosts the No. 3 Metro team, which could be Eastside Catholic. That would be a terrific first-round game. Auburn hosts Arlington, and Auburn Riverside plays at Meadowdale.
