Class 3A championship game: Skyline-O’Dea

Final: Skyline 42, O’Dea 35. More to come later.

End 3rd Q: O’Dea leads 28-21 in a game it once led 28-7. But in a matter of 3 minutes, 12 seconds, Skyline scored twice to make this a game again. First, Tyler Washburn ran in a 17-yard score, and then Gino Simone caught a short pass and ran for a 29-yard touchdown.

O’Dea’s Fogerson has run for 219 yards — two short of the 3A championship record — and four touchdowns.

HALFTIME: O’Dea leads 21-7, and the Irish will get the ball at the half. Fogerson ran 132 yards and three touchdowns in the half. For Skyline, Simone has six catches for 80 yards and a touchdown.

This is where I have to start writing, and so the only likely update from this

5:20 left, 2nd Q: Fogerson scores again! This time, it’s a 72-yard jaunt down the left sideline to give O’Dea a 21-7 lead.

9:58 left, 2nd Q: O’dea takes the lead on a 12-yard Johri Fogerson touchdown run. 14-7 O’Dea.

11:45 left, 2nd Q: Skyline scores on a 20-yard pass from Jake Heaps to Gino Simone. 7-7

END 1st Q: O’Dea still leads 7-0, but Skyline has second-and-goal at the 5-yard line. The Spartans took over at midfield when O’Dea couldn’t convert on fourth-and-1.

7:48 left, 1st Q: O’Dea takes a 7-0 lead on a 1-yard Fogerson run. O’Dea got the ball on a Allen Mooney interception.

INJURY UPDATE: O’Dea QB Donny Lisowski, who was questionable for this game, is warming up on the field. So he looks like he’ll be ready to go.

I’m sure many of you have grown accustomed to the “Live from…” blogs the past two weeks, but thankfully, you won’t have to keep hitting the refresh button the next two nights for the Class 3A and 4A finals.

The games are on TV, starting with tonight’s 7:30 kickoff in the 3A game, on Fox Sports Northwest.

Because most of you can see the games live, we won’t have so many updates the next two nights. But feel free to discuss the games in the comments section. I think we can get some lively debate going on the game.

I’ll be back with quarter-by-quarter scores, but we have tight deadlines tonight, so I’ll have to devote most of my attention to getting the game story in tomorrow morning’s newspapers.

A reminder of our staff picks on this one:

Craig Smith: O’Dea 24-17

Sandy Ringer: Skyline 21-20

Tom Wyrwich: Skyline 26-14

Zach Landres-Schnur: Skyline 21-20

Josh Mayers: O’Dea 24-21
