Boys basketball rankings

The top two stay the same in both polls, but after that, we have a fair share of movement. Two teams whose strength we could ignore: Roosevelt in 4A and Mount Rainier in 3A.

The Roughriders have yet to lose a game in state and have rolled through their KingCo schedule. On Jan. 22, they face what figures to be their most difficult in-state game of the season: No. 2 Franklin.

Mount Rainier beat Renton and Kennedy this week, cementing their status as a contender in Class 3A. Their only loss came to 4A Inglemoor in the Comcast Christmas Classic. The guard combo of Vonchae Richardson and Alfie Miller is tough to stop.

The toughest part of this week’s rankings is figuring out the SPSL 4A North, where Kentwood, Federal Way and Decatur come in at sixth, seventh, and eighth. And Kentridge is right on the bubble. It’d be eaiser to figure these teams out if they didn’t keep beating each other. I’d gladly take your suggestions on how these schools should be ordered.

Some notable games this week:

Gonzaga Prep at Shadle Park, Tuesday, 5:45 p.m.

Kennedy at Renton, Tuesday, 7 p.m.

Federal Way at Kentwood, Tuesday, 7:30 p.m.

Rainier Beach at O’Dea, Friday, 7:30 p.m.
