Hekker keys Bothell victory

Johnny Hekker blocked a long three-point try above the arc, chased the ball down near midcourt and took it the other way for a game-clinching jam with 13 seconds left as the Bothell boys beat Gig Harbor, 65-57, in the second game of the day at the King Holiday Hoopfest.

Hekker scored eight of his team-high 18 points in the final 3 1/2 minutes of the game. Albert Horswill and Neddy Dirini added 14 each.

Gig Harbor got 26 points and 17 reboounds from Mathias Ward, while Geoff McIntosh added 21 points, including four three-pointers.

The only other girls game of the day is in progress with Kentwood leading Jackson 7-5 miday through the first quarter.
