Good morning from Edmundson Pavilion, where a full day of basketball is under way in the King Holiday Hoopfest.
The first of seven games is in the books as the Issaquah girls dispatched Garfield, 62-44. The Bothell boys are playing Gig Harbor right now, and it’s tied 31-31 at the half.

Despite the lopsided win, Issaquah coach Kathy Gibson wasn’t grinning as she walked off the court. As thrilled as she was with the crisp first half that left the Eagles up 38-14, Gibson was equally ticked at the sloppy second half.
“I’m just frustrated with their inability to close the door and finish the job,” she said.
Garfield coach Craig Jackson also called it a tale of two halves, and he liked the way the Bulldogs finished, outscoring Issaquah 30-24 in the final two quarters. The Bulldogs missed their first seven shots from the field and shot just 23.1 percent in the first half, while Issaquah hit a hot 54.3 percent.
Freida Li led the Eagles with 14, while Alexa Smith had 13 and Alyssa Shoji added 10. Garfield’s Cora McManus posted a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
