New basketball rankings

The rankings kept moving this week until the just about an hour ago, when Garfield finished its upset of Federal Way.

Was I tempted to slide Franklin to the top spot tonight after its win against Fairfax? You bet. That was the second-best team from LA’s city division that the Quakers just beat. But the fact is that five hours away, Ferris continues to demolish all comers, and big DeAngelo Casto is still working his way onto that team. So the defending champs continue as the No. 1.

Once again, if you have a better idea about ranking the top four teams from the SPSL North, don’t hesitate to let me know. I have to rank them some way, so this is what I came up with.

Notable boys games this week:

Franklin at Roosevelt, 7:30 p.m. Tuesday

Shadle Park at Ferris, 5:45 p.m. Thursday

Federal Way at Decatur, 7:30 p.m. Thursday

Kentwood at Kentridge, 7:30 p.m. Friday

Notable girls games this week:
