Wild night for ranked teams

It wasn’t the best night to be a team ranked by The Seattle Times on another wild night as we close the season.

For the boys, Snohomish, ranked seventh in 4A, lost 61-56 to Stanwood in overtime. The eighth-ranked team, Roosevelt, didn’t fare much better, losing 51-40 at Juanita. Bothell, though, couldn’t take advantage of the win because the Cougars lost at Redmond (Go Green night, it seemed, worked). Also, 7-10 Newport pulled off a 66-61 upset of 15-2 Bellevue — ranked seventh in Class 3A — so both Skyline and Issaquah now have a shot at stealing second place from the Wolverines.

On the girls side, Bainbridge handed Seattle Prep, ranked sixth in 3A, its first Metro League loss of the season. Also, 10th-ranked Newport lost, but that came at the hands of seventh-ranked Bellevue.

There were also some other wild games, including these four more overtime games:

Ingraham girls 70, Rainier Beach 69 (2OT)

Garfield boys 78, Inglemoor 71 (OT)

Woodinville boys 55, Ballard 48 (OT)

Jackson 65, Kamiak 60 (OT)

I’ll have updated conference breakdowns heading into the season’s final week coming tomorrow.
