Swimming update

This from Josh Mayers, who took over for me for the 4A swimming:

200 medley relay: Snohomish, 1:37.81

200 free: Sean Nesheim, Cascade (Everett), 1:43.65

200 IM: Trevor LeValley, Marysville-Pilchuck, 1:55.20

50 free (tie): Jake Kaija, Wilson (Tacoma) and Whale Vincent, Shorewood, 22.00

100 fly: Cody Roberts, Richland, 49.95

100 free: Seth Parker, Central Kitsap, 47.25

500 free: Bryan Michaels, Shorewood, 4:38.31

200 free relay: Kamiak, 1:29.61

100 back: Cody Roberts, Richland, 52.57

100 breast: Garren Riechel, Snohomish, 57.09

400 free relay: Snohomish, 3:16.00

A great showing from the WesCo swimmers, who had at least a share of the best time in seven of the 11 events. Five different schools contributed, not just Snohomish.

Snohomish’s Garren Riechel, Cody Roberts from Richland and the Panthers team impressed the most on Friday. It was a shame to see the 50 free’s top seed, Cole Scarbrough of Mount Tahoma, receive a disqualification for a false start after posting the fastest time.

Here are the top finishers from the 2A/3A swimming prelims, which Mercer Island appears to have all but wrapped up:

Diving: Beau Riebe, Mercer Island

200 medley relay: Kennedy

50 free: Ethan Hallowell, Eastside Catholic

200 IM: Kevin Munsch, Kennedy

100 fly: Tyler Hayden, Shorecrest

200 free: Murray Longbotham, Mercer Island

100 free: Austin Hallett, Bainbridge

200 free relay: Kennedy

100 back: Zack Ponchene, Ellensburg

500 free: Brant Kersten, Issaquah

100 breast: Kevin Munsch, Kennedy

400 free relay: Mercer ISland
