A trio of interesting boys results to report so far tonight:
West Seattle 82, Bellevue 76 (OT). First they beat defending champ O’Dea. Now the West Seattle Wildcats have upset Bellevue, a top-10 3A team for all but one week this season. Bellevue wiped out a six-point fourth-quarter deficit to force overtime, but West Seattle, led by Malcholm Love’s 26 points, reigned in overtime.
Mount Vernon 49, Meadowdale 45. No, this isn’t a huge upset; Mt. Vernon had a solid season in the Northwest Conference. But regardless, the top WesCo 3A team is going to have to really work for a trip to state. Mt. Vernon moves on to a winner-to-state game. Michael Caswell led Mt. Vernon with 24 points.
Federal Way 51, Kentwood 44. Haven’t seen the box score on this one, and it’s not like this is a big upset, either. But it does mean one of the state’s best players, Kentwood’s Josh Smith, won’t be in the state tournament next week. Big win for Federal Way, which is headed to state.
Roosevelt and Bothell are tied at 17 at the half here at Juanita. And no, they aren’t playing football.
UPDATE: Bothell survives Roosevelt with a 42-40 overtime win. Somewhat of a stunner. I’ll have more on this game tomorrow.
