The sun is shining, the birds chirping and the trees blooming.
That’s everywhere else.
And then you walk outside and you see it’s raining, cold and dark. Magnificent.
You’d think the weather will make a turn for the better any day now, but a few weeks into the spring sports season and still the weather is lousy.
Aside from the dreary weather putting a damper — literally and figuratively — on things, many rainouts in baseball, fastpitch, tennis and golf must get tough on everyone involved. There is little consistency with schedules and it must be tough for players to get into any sort of rhythm when games can be spaced over a week apart at times.
As a player, coach or parent, are these rainouts and rescheduled games as frustrating as I make it sound? Or is it just the nature of playing spring sports in Western Washington?
