The latest news and analysis on high-school sports around the Seattle area

Snow in April. (Sigh).

There are appropriate times and places for snow. Like the winter. Or Antarctica. But April and snow go together like oil and water. It’s inconvenient, it’s annoying and it’s — brrr — COLD!

While it might now affect many, it caused headaches for many in the high school sports world over the weekend.

There were baseball, softball and soccer games snowed out — and it takes a lot to cancel a soccer game, so you know it must’ve been falling pretty good. The biggest snowout of all was probably at Snohomish’s Eason Invitational, a track and field meet featuring over 50 schools and 1,000 athletes. Like soccer, it takes a lot to cancel a track meet, but this one is a biggie, with rescheduling that many schools and athletes a logistics nightmare.

But hey, the skiing is probably good. Yeah. Go skiing. In April. It’s snowing in April.

Morning stars:

1. Shane Elliott, Federal Way, baseball. Went 3-3 with three homers, eight (eight!) RBIs and four runs scored in the Eagles’ 15-4 win over Tahoma.

2. Colby Sokol, Emerald Ridge, baseball. Went 3-3 with two homers, a double and five RBIs in a 10-0 win over Spanaway Lake.

3. Paul Clingan, Mountlake Terrace, baseball. Went 2-4 with four RBIs and the go-ahead two-run HR in the top of the seventh as Terrace beat Meadowdale 4-3.
