Smith, Wroten selected for NYC event

Seattle’s Tony Wroten, picked by some as the best freshman in the country last year, and Kent’s Josh Smith, a top-five junior this season, have been picked to play the 2008 Boost Mobile Elite 24, according to the selectors at ESPN Rise Magazine (this event clearly isn’t lacking any sponsors). According the release sent out, the event is “the only basketball event in the country to feature the top 24 high school male basketball players regardless of class year” — and I swear it says this — “or shoe affiliation.”

Abdul Gaddy, a senior out of Tacoma, was also chosen for the event, which will be played at Rucker Park, perhaps the most famous outdoor court in the country. Only North Carolina and New Jersey, with four players each, have more players represented on the roster than Washington.
