Former California Assistant High School Football Coach Charged With Intent to Commit Arson

Ugly story out of Los Gatos, Calif. A former assistant football coach at Los Gatos High School in Northern California, who was none to pleased about losing his job, tried to take his frustration out on, well, let’s let the San Jose Mercury News explain.

A former teacher’s aide and assistant football coach at Los Gatos High School, apparently disgruntled about losing his job last year, has been arrested on charges of vandalism, burglary and possession of flammable material with intent to commit arson, police said.

The Los Gatos/Monte Sereno police went to the high school gym at 1 a.m. Saturday, responding to an alarm.

Police found a glass door to the gym had been smashed with a shot that apparently had been taken out of the school’s track and field storage shed, police spokesman Sgt. Randy Rimple said.

Los Gatos, which was 10-1-1 last season, is a perennial contender and is ranked No. 15 in the norcalpreps.com preseason poll.
