Drive-by shooting in Grandview during football game

I wanted to pass along a story that ran in the paper a couple days ago.

A drive-by shooting Friday night across from Grandview High School injured two teenagers and caused a lockdown at the school, where a football game was in progress.

According to police, the attack took place at 9:14 when a burgundy SUV pulled up in front of a residence and the occupants opened fire on several youths who were standing outside in the yard.

A 14-year-old boy and a 15-year-old boy were struck by shotgun pellets, police said. Evidence at the scene indicated the shooters also used a 7.62 mm assault-style rifle in addition to a shotgun.

The victims were taken to Sunnyside Community Hospital. Police said their injuries were not life-threatening. No arrests had been made as of Saturday afternoon.

Maybe there’s a reader in the Yakima County area that can give an update of what has happened since. I heard there was a student-organized sit-in on Monday about violence awareness but perhaps there’s more to the story that we haven’t heard.
