Monroe QB Gets ESPN Mention

When you pass for over 400 hundred yards and five touchdowns in a high school game, the local paper (read: us) will give you some attention.

But ESPN?

That was the case for Monroe senior QB Brian Sonneveldt, who got mentioned towards the bottom of this ESPN article after completing 21 of 32 passes for 401 yards and five TDs in last week’s 39-27 win over Sedro-Woolley.

“The thing about him is that he’s very coachable and a good athlete,” said Bearcats first-year coach Dave Telford. “He’s a very smart kid. You tell him what to do and he does it. And he’s been making good decisions. When you do that, you don’t necessarily have to be spectacular.”

The article says Sonneveldt is from Monroe, Ore., which is untrue, because frankly we wouldn’t be that excited if he were from Oregon and not our neck of the woods. Still, heckuva game!
