New volleyball rankings in the works

Ah, the art of volleyball.

Sometimes I think there is nothing more majestic than the pefect pass, set and kill on the volleyball court, especially when you get a hitter who can really sky.

Of course there is no perfect way to come up with volleyball rankings, and if you’re reading this you probably know there are some differences between The Times’ weekly poll and the one put out by the Washington State Volleyball Coaches Association — although these days we are more on the same page than back in the beginning.

I am pouring over results from the past week and will be posting new rankings this afternnoon. If you want to state a case for your team, or any team for that matter, please feel free. There will be some shake-up in Class 3A after No. 6 Sumner topped No. 2 Auburn Mountainview, 3-1. Plus, No. 9 Eastside Catholic topped No. 7 Bishop Blanchet in straight games.

There will be some movement in 4A, too, especially with No. 10 Curtis falling to Bethel, 3-0. It’s bye-bye Curtis, but who should we say hello to? Bethel? Rogers of Puyallup? Stay tuned…..
