Wednesday’s Morning Stars

1. King’s volleyball. The state coaches’ poll ranks the Knights No. 1 in Class 1A, and they showed why last night. They handed Archbishop Murphy its first loss of the season 25-16, 25-17, 25-15. Dionna Kirton had 11 kills, and Tina Boggs had four aces for the 7-0 Knights.

2. Kaleen Berg, Lake Stevens, girls soccer. Four goals is a bunch. It’s like 40 points in basketball. For example, only two Sounders have scored four goals in the last decade. So it was a big night for Berg last night; she scored four goals to lead the Vikings to a 7-0 win against Marysville-Pilchuck. Annie Thomas added two goals and an assist.

3. Lauren Sewell, Kentridge, golf.We had a plethora of guys and girls shoot 1-under last night, like Sewell, but here’s what sticks out about her 1-under 34 at Fairwood: she was 11 shots better than anyone else in the match.
