Showdowns in Metro

The Metro League is considered primarily a good boys basketball league but football is going to get some well-deserved attention this week. The reason is two tantalizing games on Friday that will determine the two teams that will play for the league championship.

Eastside Catholic warmed up for its showdown with O’Dea today by thumping Bishop Blanchet 45-17. The Crusaders showed their usual speed and I was more impressed with their passing attack than previously. EC is also demonstrating good speed and tackling on defense.

I saw Rainier Beach have its way with Hale Friday night 44-10. The Vikings should be able to give speedy West Seattle a game. Quarterback Marcus Allen-Williams has a strong arm and good targets and Thomas Williams has some speed. Beach is an up-and-down team but it will be up for this one.
