Friday Morning Stars

1. Artise Gauldin, Kent-Meridian, football. Gauldin ran for 284 yards on 19 carries and five touchdowns to help give Kent-Meridian its first win of the season against winless Jefferson. Gauldin has run for 902 yards this season.

2. Carl Johnson, Bainbridge, boys golf. Johnson shot an even par 142 over two days at Jefferson Park and West Seattle, giving him a one-shot victory against O’Dea’s Tyler Kato, whose 73 on Thursday was the best of the top 15 finishers.

3. Courtney Johnson and Megan Walburn, Kentwood, girls soccer. Johnson and Walburn combined for their 10th consecutive shutout. The Conks haven’t allowed a goal since their opening game, Sept. 9 and are 11-0.
