Links and notes

I scoured the internet for the some notes and national rankings, so take a look if you like:

  • ESPN’s Rise does a little Q&A with Franklin basketball star Peyton Siva.

  • Skyline’s big football win over Issaquah jumped the team seven spots to No. 8 in the USA Today rankings, up to No. 15 in ESPN’s poll (Bellevue sneaks in at No. 50) and No. 17 in Rivals (which has the Wolverines at No. 65).

  • Jackson’s boys cross-country team is now ranked in the Harrier Super 25 on DyeStat.com. The Timberwolves, coached by Eric Hruschka, turned some heads with strong performances at the Stanford and Richland Invites.

  • Beamer’s girls soccer team is ranked 25th nationally by Adidas — a poll that once had the Titans No. 9 in the country. ESPN has SPSL powers Beamer (No. 17) and Kentwood (No. 49) nationally ranked.

  • In case you missed it, Auburn Riverside’s Nichole Jackson was praised for her passing and work ethic in this basketball story.

  • Football tragedies are affecting schools in New Jersey — a 16 year old died of a brain injury in a JV game — and Florida, where a player was shot and killed.

  • A 14-year-old girl fought for her right to play high-school football, and won.

  • Here’s an update on Ashton Kutcher‘s stint as a prep football coach.

Something to chew on while you labor through hump day.
