Sunday Morning Stars

1. Max Manthou, Kentwood, boys tennis. The defending Class 4A state champion won the SPSL 4A championships with a 6-1, 6-2 win in the final. Interesting note about Manthou: of the top junior tennis players in the country, Manthou’s one of the very, very few who attend a public school.

2. Lauren Jerde, Jefferson, girls soccer. In a 3-0 win against Federal Way, Jerde scored all of her team’s goals, all of them in the first half. Other hat tricks Saturday night: Auburn’s Kristen Dick and Graham-Kapowsin’s Kelsy Villegas.

3. Mar’que Fluker, Renton, football. Fluker made the best of that ugly fight situation with Renton and Tyee last week. With 15 players suspended last night against Evergreen, Fluker went from backup to the hero. He ran for 115 yards and two touchdowns and added a 70-yard kickoff return. Renton won 40-8.
