Bothell a state contender again

If by this point, you’re still thinking about Bothell’s first two weeks, it’s time to forget them. In a 41-7 victory against Bethel, the Cougars looked every bit as dangerous as they did this time last season, before they advanced to the state title game.

They missed an assignment or two against Bethel’s double-wing rushing game, but that’s about all you’ll find wrong with the way the Cougars thoroughly won Friday night. Patrick Ottorbech followed last week’s big game on national TV against Skyline with 142 yards and two touchdowns. And after a few misses early, QB Mitchell Muller finished 9-for-15 for 146 yards.

Since the week two loss at Bellevue, the Cougars have looked stronger each week. They surprised some people last week by almost beating Skyline, and afterwards, they talked about getting another shot at the Spartans. They could only meet in the state championship game.

“We’re looking forward to them,” Kurt Stottlemyer said.
