Eastside Catholic posts first shutout

For four years, Eastside Catholic has looked forward to this football season and now the Crusaders are making the most of it.

Qualifying round (round-of-32) games are often mismatches and this 42-0 romp over Mount Rainier certainly was. EC started 12 seniors and the Rams started six freshmen.

It was 35-0 with less than 19 minutes played. EC finished with 310 yards of rushing and rested its starters in the final quarter.

EC hasn’t had a close game since getting past O’Dea 17-14 weeks ago but that could end next week when the Crusaders play the Mount Si-Peninsula winner.

Meanwhile, give Mount Rainier credit for getting to the round-of-32. The Rams are rebuilding under new head coach Chris Paulson after back-to-back 1-9 season. They finish 4-6 and Paulson intends to use this game as a springboard for the offseason.
