Saturday Morning Stars

Here are where the playoff football brackets stand going into tonight’s games: Class 4A and Class 3A.

1. Darrius Coleman, Kentwood, football. Coleman ran 40 yards for the winning score in overtime of a 35-28 win against Edmonds-Woodway. He ran for 192 yards on 26 carries, and he had a receiving touchdown to add to that overtime rushing TD. Kentwood goes on the road next week against the winner of tonight’s game between Marysville-Pilchuck and Issaquah.

2. James Russell, Juanita, boys tennis. In a three-hour marathon match, Russell outlasted Kevin Kosanke, Bellevue’s undefeated senior, 4-6, 7-6 (7-4), 6-1 to win the KingCo 3A tournament at Mercer Island Country Club.

3. Jake Allie, Lindbergh, football. Allie completed 15 of 27 passes for 367 yards and five touchdowns in Lindbergh’s win against Columbia River. The Eagles advance to the round of 16 for only the second time, according to the WIAA database, and they will likely face Bellevue in Bellevue next week.
