Sunday Morning Stars

Too much going on last night to only do three…

1. Michael Miller, Mount Rainier, and Mack Young, Redmond; boys cross-country. Clearly, there’s no reason last night’s post should not have also mentioned Miller, who won the 3A race in the exact same 15:18 time that Young won the boys 4A race. Both took individual titles, as did Northwest School’s Maddie Meyers, who won the 1A race.

2. Kelly Tannhauer, Juanita, girls swimming. As Terry Wood’s story today pointed out, Tannhauer comes from a swimming family, and she kept the family business going strong Saturday in the Sea-King District meet. She won the 200- and the 500-freestyle.

3. Sean Snead, Mount Si, football. Snead, one of the top rushers in the state, went for 191 yards and five touchdowns in a 33-9 win against Peninsula. That moves Mount Si to the round of 16 to face Eastside Catholic.

4. Tre Watson, Kennedy, football. His amazing season continued Saturday night with two more rushing touchdowns — he’s over 1,703 yards now, and a 69-yard interception return for a touchdown.

5. Jessica Rankin, Shorecrest, girls soccer. With only thirty seconds left on the clock, Rankin headed in the the winning goal off a free kick to give Shorecrest a 1-0 win against Mount Vernon and a berth in the state tournament.,
