Saturday Morning Stars

1. Jeff Gouveia, Auburn, football. Ran for 151 yards and three touchdowns, including a 99-yard insurance run, in a 28-14 win against Woodinville. Also a linebacker, Gouveia had a team high 9.5 tackles. And now he needs to get ready for…

2. Jake Heaps, Skyline, football. It’s hard to pick one player who made that Skyline win against Federal Way so impressive, but it’s easiest to go with the guy who threw five touchdown passes. Working with short fields all night, Heaps finished 20-for-27 for 191 yards. The No. 1 Spartans will face third-ranked Auburn next weekend in what has to be the blockbuster of the quarterfinals.

3. Carolyn Dapper, King’s, girls soccer. In a 3-0 victory against Overlake, Dapper got the shutout that helped King’s advance to the Class 1A semifinals. King’s will face the winner of Seattle Christian and Montesano.
