The Metro League will be well represented in tomorrow’s semifinals of the Class 3A state volleball tournament.
Eastside Catholic and Bishop Blanchet both advanced and could possibly play for the championship, although a couple other teams plan to have a say about that.
Shorecrest and Mercer Island, you ask? No and no.
In the biggest upset of the day, unheralded Lakes of suburban Tacoma took down second-ranked Shorecrest, 3-2. The Lancers, who had not been to state since 1977, take on Eastside Catholic.
No. 3 Mercer Island fell to Shadle Park of Spokane, 3-1. Shadle meets Blanchet in the other semifinal. Both are scheduled for 3:30 p.m. with the title match at 6:30 p.m.
Four loser-out games are in progress right now and I’ll be back later with those results.
