4A state volleyball serves it up

It’s time for 4A teams to take center stage in state volleyball action at the Toyota Center in Kennewick.

No. 2 Kentwood is off to a quick start against Issaquah and top-ranked Lewis and Clark of Spokane has jumped up early on Edmonds-Woodway.

Marysville-Pilchuck, which entertained players and coaches during last night’s social and orientation with a fun dance routine, is in front of No. 9 Curtis of University Place in game one. Could be an upset brewing, but it’s far too soon to tell. In the other match, No. 8 Skyview of Vancouver leads Bellarmine Prep of Tacoma.

The other four first-round contests are scheduled for 10:30 a.m.

Losers of these matches don’t play again until tomorrow, while the quarterfinals are this afternoon. It’s kind of a quirky schedule, but remember the 3A tourney finishes up today, plus there are first-round 2A matches and quarterfinals.

I’ll be back off and on throughout the day and evening. One quick update: Kentwood took game one from Issaquah, 25-10, and E-W is making a game of it with L-C. Curtis is closing the gap on M-P and the othe rmatch is within three points, too. Good stuff!
