Friday Morning (volleyball) Stars

1. Ellie Radich, Eastside Catholic. The Cruaders are in the Class 3A semifinals after beating Kennedy and Mt. Spokane, and Radich had herself a day. She combined for 46 kills, 31 digs and 16 aces in the two wins.

2. Melissa Geiss, Bishop Blanchet. Nice Thursday for the Metro League, which saw two teams advance to the semifinals. Blanchet shocked Sumner with a 3-0 sweep and then also swept Meadowdale in the quarters. Geiss had 22 kills in the first match and eight more against Meadowdale.

3. Kerry Clavadetscher, Shorecrest. In Shorecrest’s upset of a Megan McBride-less Auburn Mountainview, Clavadetscher had 10 kills and 21 assists. And she added 11 kills and 21 assists when Shorecrest came up just short against Lakes in the quarterfinals, losing 3-2. The fifth game was decided 19-17.
