Halftime: Skyline 24, Auburn 2

Skyline has not only shut down Auburn’s run game, it’s also passing all over the Auburn secondary through one half, and the Spartans have a 24-2 lead at halftime.

Auburn led 2-0 after the first quarter, getting its safety when a Skyline player purposely batted a fumble forward out of the end zone. But Skyline got a field goal one minute into the second quarter, and then the Spartans really started moving. Jake Heaps scored on a 2-yard sneak, followed by a 55-yard punt return score by Gino Simone, and then Nick Washburn scored with 21.2 seconds left in the half.

Heaps has thrown for 146 yards, and Kasen Williams been on the receiving end of 76 of them. Skyline’s final score of the half was set up by a 47-yard Heaps bomb to Williams, a perfectly thrown spiral that hit Williams in stride on the sideline.

Auburn has 67 rushing yards on 25 carries.
