All-state volleyball, soccer teams

In case you missed it, the all-state volleyball and soccer teams, as selected by writers from 13 newspapers around the state, were announced yesterday.

Kudo’s to Everett’s Valerie Stahl, the 3A player of the year in soccer, and Anna Cesari of King’s, the 1A player of the year in volleyball. Both led their teams to state titles. The top vote-getter in 4A soccer was Emily Hurd from Eastlake, while Seattle Academy’s Sierra Keeler earned the honor for the combined 1A/2B/1B team.

Jocelyn Levig, who led Sumner to a 27-2 record and fifth-place showing at the 3A state volleyball tournament, was also among those named a player of the year. And while Monroe’s Kylin Munoz garnered national recognition as a first-team All-American and the Gatorade state player of the year, sportswriters picked Oceana Bush from Lewis and Clark of Spokane as the 4A award winner after leading the Tigers to the top.
