The latest news and analysis on high-school sports around the Seattle area

Sunday Morning Stars

1. Colton Christian, Bellevue, boys basketball. Not only did Christian score 21 points Saturday, but the 6-foot-7 forward was surely a part of holding Anthony Stover, the 6-foot-10 UCLA signee from Windward (Calif.), to only four points in a 57-48 Bellevue win.

2. Melissa Gilkey, Woodinville, girls basketball. If you’re named Gilkey and go to Woodinville, there’s a good chance you can ball. Gilkey scored 20 points in a 58-39 win against Newberg of Oregon in the Catcutm Jam in Phoenix.

3. Jarrell Banks, Mt. Rainier, boys basketball. Mt. Rainier is for real, and Banks is a big reason. In an 80-62 win against Issaquah, Banks score 22 points and had six rebounds, five assists and five steals. The Rams will play Inglemoor on Monday in the BCC Christmas Classic semifinals.
