Friday night recap

Blowouts in KingCo and Metro. The two most highly-anticipated games of the night — Franklin at O’Dea and Mercer Island at Bellevue — turned out to be easy wins for Franklin and Bellevue, showing just how far those two teams (along with Beach) have separated themselves from the rest of Class 3A. Both teams won their holiday tournaments, and they have stayed on a roll in 2009.

Enumclaw takes out Lakes. The Hornets took the upper hand in the SPSL 3A with a 65-51 victory with 28 points from guard Taylor Myers, and now they have beaten Mt. Rainier and Lakes in the past two weeks.

Auburn avoids upset at Riverside. Did you see how this one ended? Riverside led for most of the fourth quarter, but Auburn’s Jeff Gouveia scored 15 of his 22 points in the fourth quarter. With seven seconds left, he put Auburn ahead 67-66, and then Riverside missed a pair of free throws with 1.4 seconds left.

Jackson’s girls get the upset. This didn’t figure to be the year Jackson coiuld go into Meadowdale in win, after Jackson lost such great players last season, but the T-Wolves beat the fifth-ranked Mavericks 51-46. Chanel Sam scored a season-high 17 in the win.
