Tonight’s top basketball games

Rainier Beach at Franklin, 8 p.m. The long-anticipated game is here, but not exactly under the conditions many Metro-watchers expected. Beach has lost two in a row, its first two losses since December 2007, and LSU signee Aaron Dotson is hurt. His fractured patella will likely be a complexity for the Vikings the rest of the season. But even without him, Beach will have to defend much better off the dribble, as Peyton Siva and the quick Quakers will be coming at them relentlessly.

Puyallup at Decatur, 7:30 p.m. Decatur will be out to avenge its only SPSL South loss, to Puyallup a couple weeks ago. The Gators have shooters at every position, but what they’ll need to do differently to avoid another loss is get bodies on Puyallup’s 6-foot-9 big man, Killian Larson.

Federal Way at Kentridge, 7:30 p.m. The third-ranked Eagles will be out to avenge their loss to Kentridge earlier this season, and neither team could really use a loss right now if it wants to win the SPSL North. Four teams are separated by a game, with Kentwood on top and Federal Way, Kentridge and Auburn all right behind the Conquerors. Great point guard matchup in this one, between Federal Way’s Michael Hale and Kentridge sophomore Gary Bell.
