Friday Morning Stars

1. Murray Longbotham, Mercer Island, boys swimming. The top senior on one of the state’s most talented teams — maybe in all of state history. Longbotham put up excellent times on Thursday night in the 200 freestyle and 100 butterfly, and he was also part of the winning 200 medley relay team and the 400 free relay team.

2. Mackenzie Brandon, Seattle Academy, girls basketball. Brandon scored 33 points to lead Seattle Academy to a 60-36 win against Cedar Park Christian.

3. Cole Dickerson, Federal Way, boys basketball. Dickerson, a 6-foot-7 junior, scored 25 points as the top-ranked Eagles brushed off Jefferson 73-48.

TONIGHT’S BIG GAME

Kentwood vs. Kentridge, boys basketball, 7 p.m. at the ShoWare Center in Kent. Kentridge beat the Conks in their last matchup, keeping big man Josh Smith from having a huge night. They meet again in the Kent Shootout, which begins when Central Kitsap plays Rainier Beach at 2:30 p.m. and ends with the undefeated Kentwood girls playing Kentridge at 8:30 p.m.
