Thursday Morning Stars

1. Antonio Gonzalez, Kennedy, boys basketball. Gonzalez scored 33 points to lead the streaking Lancers to a 78-53 victory against Lindbergh.

2. Kari Wells, Evergreen, boys basketball. Wells scored 28 points in a 69-65 victory against Highline. Look at Evergreen’s season, and this team’s had a lot of close calls. Should Evergreen go anywhere in the postseason, it could really shock a team or two.

3. Jae Shin, Mercer Island, girls basketball. Shin, Mercer Island’s sharpshooter, had 20 huge points in a 66-58 win against Bellevue that kept the Islanders in the lead in the KingCo 2A/3A. Mercer Island now has a one-game lead on Liberty and two games on Bellevue, the only league team to beat the Islanders this season.
