Thursday Morning Stars

1. Alex Nelson, Inglemoor, girls basketball. Nelson scored 21 points to lead the Vikings, who led Garfield 10-1 after the first quarter and then held on for a 51-44 victory in the Sea-King 4A tournament.

2. Jordan Kidd, Chief Sealth, boys basketball.The Metro League’s leading scorer put in 26 to lead the Wildcats to a 69-50 win against Cleveland in the league tournament. Sealth will play O’Dea on Saturday to determine the league’s fifth seed in the Sea-King District tournament.

3. Nicole Mowbray, Oak Harbor, girls basketball. In a 52-51 upset of Jackson, Mowbry rebounded teammate Jennifer Jansen’s missed jumper and put it back with just 2.9 seconds left. That advances Oak Harbor to Saturday’s winner-to-state game.
