Filling out the 4A boys bracket

You heard it all day Sunday, when the coaches met for the draw: this tournament is wide open.

But somebody has to win the Class 4A boys basketball tournament, so here’s my stab at filling out the brackets. Feel free to let us know in the comments how you think it will pan out. (And remember, we’ll have a live chat today at 5 p.m. from Bellevue Community College, site of the Sea-King 3A semis).

Quarterfinals: Kentridge over Inglemoor, Federal Way over Walla Walla, Foss over Eisenhower, Garfield over Decatur. (Let me say that I really like Decatur, and if this quarterfinal does happen, it will be one of the best quarterfinals you could ever ask for.)

Semifinals: Federal Way over Kentridge, Garfield over Foss

Conventional. I know. But these are the two most talented, deepest teams I’ve seen this season.

Finals: Federal Way 74, Garfield 66.

This has been Federal Way’s year, having lost only two games by a total of three points. By winning the SPSL and WCD championships, the Eagles enter the tournament on an absolute tear, one I don’t see ending.

But that’s why the play the games right? We’re fewer than 24 hours from the first tipoff, so we’ll soon find out who will be holding the 4A trophy for the next year.
