FINAL– Kentwood girls 73, Kamiak 39

FINAL — Kentwood cruises to a 73-39 win in the first round. More stats and notes to come.

KW shot 27-57 FG (47.4%) and held Kamiak to 13-57 FG (22.8%). Four KW players scored in double figures: Jessie Genger (13), Sanda Milovic (13), Lindsey Moore (12) and Kylie Huerta (11). Kelsey Patrick led Kamiak with 11 points.

1:52 4th quarter — Conks lead 71-39 and are wrapping up a dominant first-round performance.

3:51 4th quarter — KW leads 67-35. A trip to the quarterfinals for the Conks is not far away.

5:55 4th quarter — Huerta passes to Milovic for a wide-open three-pointers. KW leads 60-30.

End of 3rd — Kentwood 56, Kamiak 27. The Conquerors owned this quarter, 14-3, with Liz Mills scoring six of her team’s final eight points. I’m already thinking about that quarterfinal tomorrow between Kentwood and Pasco. Moore doesn’t seem slowed at all. She’s not playing every minute, which is smart.

3:00 3rd quarter — Kentwood 48, Kamiak 25. Huerta has four points in a 6-0 run before Kamiak gets a free throw from Carrie Barnes.

Boys update — Foss leads Mountlake Terrace 20-18 at the half on the other court.

5:53 3rd quarter — Kentwood 44, Kamiak 24. Sorry those halftime stats came really late. One of the things that stands out — Kamiak made just 1 of 10 three-pointers, while Kentwood sank 3 of 8. Moore has 12 points. No one has more than four for Kamiak.

At the half — Kentwood 42, Kamiak 22. Genger scored seven of her 11 during a two-minute stretch of the second. Back with halftime leaders in a bit.

1:50 2nd quarter — Kentwood 37, Kamiak 20. Moore is taking a rest on the bench, but Kentwood doesn’t miss a beat.

3:44 2nd quarter — Kentwood 34, Kamiak 18. Kylie Huerta, just 5-foot tall, just lobbed a half-court pass to Jessie Genger for an easy bucket. Time out Kamiak.

5:01 2nd quarter — Kentwood 28, Kamiak 18. The Knights are playing Kentwood tough this period. Samantha Sovich just completed a three-point play.

5:34 2nd quarter — Kentwood 26, Kamiak 15. Moore has has 5 points and a nice assist in this period so far.

End of 1st — Kentwood 19, Kamiak 9. Kentwood stretched that 9-0 run to 13-0 to take control. Six different players have scored for the second-ranked Conquerors.

2:56 1st quarter — Kentwood 13, Kamiak 5. Moore’s three-pointer caps a 9-0 run and Kamiak calls time out. The winner gets top-ranked Pasco, which looked awfully good after a slow start against Mount Tahoma.

5:00 1st quarter — Kentwood 8, Kamiak 5. You’d never know Moore hasn’t played in more than a week because of a sore hamstring. She’s scoring and dishing like her old self.

Looks like Lindsey Moore is ready to go for Kentwood.
