FINAL — Franklin boys 67, Shadle Park 42

Final — Richardson finished with a game-high 24 points on 9-14 FG and 6-9 3FG. Peyton Siva and Vionte Reid had six assists apiece. Franklin shot 48% and assisted on 17 of its 24 field goals (including 10 three-pointers). The Quakers led by as many as 35 points when it was 62-27 early in the fourth quarter.

Anthony Brown had a team-high 16 points before fouling out. Shadle Park, which shot 21% in the first half, finished 13-41 from the floor (fueled by a late 11-0 run). That’s all for now, we’ll check back in later.

Final — The Quakers storm to the quarterfinals with a very convincing first-round win against the fourth-ranked Highlanders 67-42. Final stats coming.

1:03 4th qtr — Franklin’s Juwuan Buchannan stops an 11-0 Highlanders run with a putback. It’s 66-41.

2:24 4th qtr — It’s mostly reserves on there now. Leon Nelson to the line for the Quakers, and Franklin leads 64-36.

4:41 4th qtr — Not at lot left in this one. Seems like both teams are ready to move on without injury/incident. Franklin leads 64-34.

7:02 4th qtr — Brown just fouled out on a reach-in in the backcourt. It’s 62-30.

End of 3rd qtr — Siva missed a dunk just before the quarter ended and it was all the Highlanders fans had to cheer about. Franklin made two three-pointers and is just two more away from tying the state record.

46.5 3rd qtr — Robby Douglas at the line for SP, cuts the Franklin lead to 56-27.

2:57 3rd qtr — Brown just picked up his 4th foul; Richardson drew it. Franklin up 52-21.

4:29 3rd qtr — Franklin slowing the pace in this one now. Freddy Wilson splits a pair of FTs to give the Quakers a 47-21 lead.

6:19 3rd qtr — Brown with a lay-up to start the half, but he misses two free-throws on an intentional foul. SP keeps the ball and gets another lay-up. It’s 42-19.

Halftime — Richardson shot 7-8 FG and 6-7 3FG to get his 20 points. The 3A state record for three-pointers in a game is nine. Franklin had 8 as a team to threaten the team record for three-pointers, which is 12.

Anthony Brown had 11 of his team’s 15 points at the break, but shot 2-7 from the floor.

Halftime — Richardson with another three-pointer with two seconds left! The 6-foot guard had six three-pointers and 20 points in the half. More stats to come.

Franklin leads 42-15 at the break. Wow.

1:10 2nd qtr — Richardson with another three-pointer for Franklin. His fourth of the quarter and fifth of the half. Quakers on 39-15.

1:55 2nd qtr — With a free throw Brown now has 11 of the Highlanders’ 15 points. Franklin up 34-15.

2:53 2nd qtr — Brown with the lay-up and a foul. He has 8 of the Highlanders 12 points. But Vonchae Richardson hits another three-pointer. Quakers lead 30-12.

4:14 2nd qtr — Anthony Brown just picked up his second foul. He’ll need to be careful, if the Highlanders hope to make a run to get back in it. Franklin 25-8.

5:13 2nd qtr — Siva’s finally on the board as he splits a pair of free throws. Then Anrio Adams makes a lay-up in transition. Quakers up 22-4.

6:20 2nd qtr — More bad news for the Highlanders. Quakers off to a 5-0 run to start the second quarter. Timeout Shadle Park. Franklin leads 19-4.

End of 1st qtr Franklin leads 14-4 and that’s without Peyton Siva scoring a single point. Shadle’s WSU recruit Anthony Brown is having to do a lot by himself, he’ll need some help or this one is going to get out of hand.

2:00 1st qtr — The Quakers now have six team fouls. That’s all that’s going wrong for Franklin, which leads 14-2.

4:21 1st qtr — Anthony Brown with the lay-up and Shadle is finally on the board. It’s 9-2 Quakers.

5:37 1st qtr — Another Highlander turnover leads to a Quaker lay-up and SP calls time. Franklin leads 7-0.

6:57 1st qtr — A missed lay-up and a turnover for Shadle Park in its first two possession. Vionte Reid hits a three-pointer for the Quakers. It’s 3-0 Franklin.
